As you can see from the certificate to the left, team 218117 "Folding@Evolve" have passed the second Work Unit Milestone this weekend, this time its for 500 complete Work Units!

And as if that is enough reason for a round of applause, we have reached ANOTHER important milestone too!
Folding@Home have also now achieved a Grand Score of over 250,000 points!  This puts us in the top 10000 teams in the world (currently 9609).

In celebration Evolve is putting together a new folding machine, nothing too special however it does have a Nvidia 9800GT Graphics card that should hopefully put out quite a few work units quite quickly.  Currently the 9800GT is residing in a Pentium 4 HT base unit however that is a temporary stopgap until a new AM3 motherboard arrives, to which 2GB DDR3 Corsair XMS3 RAM and an AMD Athlon II X2 240 CPU will be added, giving a great deal more power to the Folding Farm here at Evolve.

So team, you can clap now!

In a bid to assist in the global effort to cure cancer, Alzheimer's, Hungtington's and Parkinson's diseases as well as many others Evolve is proud to announce that we are contributing to the Folding@Home project.

We only started yesterday and have thus far completed 26 WU's (Work Units) and earned a Grand Score of 8862 points placing us at 40270 on the leader boards of 211732 teams worldwide.

This figure is updated hourly, so to check current stats click here

But...

This is not enough.  We have just two PC's folding 24/7, both of which are also used for other tasks at the same time.  Additionally we have 3 other machines folding part-time.  We need more!

You can help too!

Download the Folding@Home client, install and run it.  Click the Configure button in the top left corner of the FAHcontrol windows and enter your chosen username (anything you like), then enter the number 218117 in the Team box.
Doing this will add you as a member or the Folding@Evolve team and your points will contribute to our position on the leader boards!

Adobe have just released the latest version of their popular (and oft necessary) Flash Player, now at version 11.

Whenever a new update to Flash Player is made available many computer users find themselves being bombarded by requests to install the update.  While keeping software up to date is a good best practice you should always use caution when updating Adobe's Flash Player when requested to do so by a website as quite often 'fake updates' are run on less than secure sites which will not update Flash Player but will instead install a virus on your computer leading to all sorts of problems down the line.

The best way to update Flash Player is to download the update direct from Adobe's own website, thus ensuring you are getting the real thing.

Below is a link to the Flash Player page on Adobe's website where you can grab the update now.
